This manual provides help in getting your MARIN product activated.


The MARIN Product Activation Resources DVD contains the following directories:

  • MARIN Product Activation: This directory contains the installer for the MARIN Product Activation Tool. This program must be installed and used if your received an activation ID or trial ASR file in order to activate the MARIN Software Product.
  • MARIN License Manager: This directory contains the installer for the MARIN License Manager. This license manager is needed to provide floating product licenses. You need to install this license manager if you have purchased floating license for your MARIN product. Typically, the MARIN License Manager is installed on a server system. The MARIN product requiring the licenses is installed on a client system.  
  • Activation Services: This directory is needed in case you need to install the Windows FlexNET service utility manually. 

The DVD also contains PDF versions of the MARIN Product Activation User Guide and the Marin License Manager Installation and User Guide. 

Product activation

MARIN software is protected with a license. To be able to use a MARIN product, a valid license must be used. MARIN uses two licensing models:

  • online licensing using the Marin Product Activation Tool
  • offline licensing using a license file

The advantage of online licensing is that you do not have to wait for a license file from the Marin support department and that you can activate the Marin product directly. If you received an activationID together with your product or in an e-mail, you can continue to activate your product using online licensing (trusted storage-based). If you did not receive an activationID together with your product, you need to follow the offline licensing (certificate-based) guide.

Marin License Manager

If you obtained a floating license, you need to install the Marin License Manager. See: Installing and Using the MARIN license manager

The Marin License Manager should be installed on a separate Windows server, not on the client machine(s).
