This If you received the product on DVD, this DVD contains the following directories:

  • MARIN Product Activation: This directory contains the installer for the MARIN Product Activation program for online product license managementTool. This program must be installed and used if your received an activation ID or trial ASR file in order to activate the MARIN Software Product.
  • MARIN License Manager: This directory contains the installer for the MARIN License Manager. This license manager is needed to provide floating product licenses. You need to install this license manager if you have purchased floating license for the your MARIN product. Most common is that the MARIN License Manager is installed on a server system. The MARIN product requiring the licenses is installed on a client system.  
  • Activation Services: This directory is needed in case you need to manually install the Windows FlexNET service utilities. This service utitly utility is installed during the installation of the MARIN Product Activation programyour Marin. Windows FlexNET services are needed to be able to activate MARIN product licenses.

The DVD also contains PDF versions of the Installation Guidelines, the Installation of the MARIN License Manager and the MARIN Product Activation. 

Product activation

MARIN software is protected with a license. To be able to use a MARIN product, a valid license must be used. MARIN uses two licensing models:

  • online licensing (trusted storage-based) using the Marin Product Activation Tool
  • offline licensing (certificate-based)using a license file

The advantage of online licensing is that you do not have to wait for a license file from the Marin support department and that you can activate the Marin product directly. If you received an activationID together with your product or in an e-mail, you can continue to activate your product using the online licensing (trusted storage-based). If you did not receive an activationID together with your product, you need to follow the offline licensing (certificate-based) guide.

Marin License Manager

If you obtained For installation of a floating (or server) license, you need to install and configure the FlexNET Publisher License server and the MARIN specific license daemonMarin License Manager. See:

Note

The Marin License Manager should be installed on a separate Windows server, not on the client machine(s).
